JOOMPUS
JOOMPUS: A destroy a monster game
Ready to bonk a sleepy nightmare until the teeth start flying? In JOOMPUS, you chip away at a dozy beast, stack a greedy multiplier, and bank those teeth in your pot—while a wake meter creeps toward “you’re lunch.” Click smart, gamble the risk, and cash out on upgrades before the beast snaps you in half.

HOW TO PLAY
- Left-click on Joompus to deal damage. He has 100HP in total
- Each hit drops teeth into your pot; chaining hits raises a multiplier for bigger gains.
- Your vigilance meter increases with each hit. This is the probability of being eaten by the monster at the moment you click. Take a risk to go faster or wait to play it safe.
- Click pills when they spawn to trigger effects (max 3 different active at once).
CORE MECHANICS
-
Risk vs. Reward: Hitting in the red zone grants a risk bonus based on your capacity—if you don’t get eaten first.
-
Shop on the fly: Spend pot to upgrade Strength (more damage), Sedative (safer meter management), and Capacity (bigger pot cap).
-
Visual feedback: As Joompus takes damage it shrinks and sinks, ending with a satisfying credits stinger when you finish it off.
-
Roguelite loop: Get chomped, keep upgrades you’ve bought, and try again stronger.
THE PILLS
-
Hyper Sedative (Purple): Instantly resets the wake meter.
-
Meter Freezer (Cyan): Freezes the meter for a couple of hits. (The monster can still kill you)
-
Sugar Multiplier (Pink): Immediate multiplier boost + extra multiplier for a few hits.
-
Pot Protection (Red): Keep your pot the next time Joompus eats you.
You can’t stack duplicates—use one before taking the same color again.
ABOUT JOOMPUS
If you already know me, you know my games are born from characters I used to doodle in my planner when I was bored in high school—if you didn’t, now you do. Joompus wasn’t an exception: when I saw it, I felt a spark of inspiration and thought, “Who wouldn’t want to give that disgusting, defenseless creature a good beating?”
What makes me happiest is that I managed to include the mini Joompuses—the little ones beside it, like its offspring—as the shopkeepers in the game. I love them; they feel packed with personality.

Quite an addictive game, with confusing gameplay at first, but enjoyable once you get the hang of it.
I really like the pill theme, and the probability is very well-tuned.
A candidate to win the Jam, good luck!
I'm not really into these types of games but this one was a sweet exception. The artstyle has so much personality and the gameplay is VERY addicting.
A good way of improving it might be to add different animations for when the monster is about to wake up.
The best part in my opinion are the little pills scattered around near the store, they really spice up the game.
Good stuff!
These visuals are so good
